The 60 Second Update with

Grover Norquist

2. Are there any circumstances under which we should raise taxes?

No. The federal government is spending 20 percent of our nation’s income each year. That should be less and our tax burden should also be less.

Reducing the deficit is an old trick played by liberals who want more money for more spending. Every time we have raised taxes, spending has also increased. The 1982 deal where Reagan was promised three dollars of spending cuts for one dollar of tax increases---is memorable because only the tax increase happened. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…

And there are now 41 Senators and 192 House members who have signed a pledge to oppose and vote against any and all tax hikes. Almost every Republican in congress has made this commitment.

Question 3. What happens if we repeal the Bush Tax Cuts?

  Question 1 / Question 2 /  Question 3 /  Question 4 Question 5

Grover Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform,a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at
the federal, state and local levels.
