The 60 Second Update with

Senator Jim DeMint

5. What are the best incentives we could offer both individuals and businesses to enhance outcomes?

The best thing government can do is to give back Americans their control over their health care needs and costs. Congress can help strengthen a true, competitive market for health care that will lower costs and increase quality for all Americans by allowing the private market to truly work. As Americans gain more control over their health care purchasing power, costs, and choice of physician and treatments, outcomes will improve.

The consistent growth of government control in the nation’s health care system has only weakened the quality and outcomes of the nation’s health care delivery system. The Democrats’ plans only exacerbate those problems by growing government even more. The only incentive that truly works is to give Americans the freedom to control their money, control their health care, and work one on one with their physician on treatments that work best for the individual – not best for government bureaucrats.
